Technical Lab Manager
Location Job Summary
Responsible
for formulation and testing of ink systems; modifies
existing & develops new ink systems. Assists with raw
material supply and related cost control. Solves
problems by ensuring proper MFG and QC procedures.
Ensures/maintains consistent formulations, nomenclature,
formulation guidelines and performance optimization.
Writes and maintains Product Data Sheets.
Responsible for rework material. Possesses and applies extensive knowledge of
particular field of specialization. Has excellent
interpersonal and communication aptitude at different
organizational levels. Directs work to meet customer
needs in an efficient manner. Meets customer needs
to the best of his/her ability, in line with SIEGWERK
philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority.
Adheres to all labor/company policies and standards to
include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean
and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent
attendance; and (3) maintains positive working
relationships. Job
Responsibilities Meets customer
needs to the best of his/her ability and in line with
Siegwerk philosophy that the customer is our #1 priority. Works closely with
Technical Account Managers to coordinate and insure that
customer needs are met. Works closely with
Purchasing to ensure that adequate supply of raw
materials is available; Interacts with suppliers of
resins, solvents, additives, and resins. Making
recommendations and requests for materials that are
desired by Siegwerk. Works closely with
Purchasing to ensure that raw material costs are
maintained at lowest possible level without compromising
the outstanding quality level that Siegwerk is known for
throughout the industry. Work closely with
production and quality assurance to establish proper
manufacturing and quality control procedures.
Including trouble shooting and modification of
formulations as necessary. Prioritizes,
assigns, manages and/or monitors development (research
and evaluation), raw material, and consolidation projects
within the development laboratory. Informs management of
current status of each project. Responsible for
Development and Stewardship of ink systems and raw
materials; including formulation maintenance, formulation
guidelines, and performance optimization. Manages lab work
and supervises technical team (Technicians to Sr. Project
Leaders) under his/her supervision in accordance with the organizations policies and
applicable laws. Interviews, hires, and trains
employees: plans, assigns, and directs work; monitors and
appraises performance; rewards, and disciplines
employees: addresses compaints and resolves issues as
they arise. Accurately
interprets data and results, providing clear written and
oral reports. Ensures that technical personnel
reporting to them provide clear written and oral reports. Usually works with
a minimum of supervision, conferring with superior for
direction and priority discussions. Other duties as
assigned. Education and Experience Master's degree (M. A.) in
Chemistry with a minimum of four years related industry
experience or equivalent combination of education and
experience. Previous management and supervisory
experience required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities To
perform this job successfully, an individual must be able

related raw materials, ink systems, production processes,
available resources and equipment, strongly preferred. Ability to read,

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive
inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches
and articles using original or innovative techniques or
style. Ability to make effective and persuasive
speeches and presentations on controversial or complex
topics to top management. Ability to
comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus,
modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability
to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic
and differential equations, and proofs of theorems. Ability to apply
principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide
range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas,
scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in
its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a
variety of abstract and concrete variables. Basic computer
skills needed Microsoft Word/Excel &
E-mail. All lab equipment, including pH meter, heat
sealer, bond tester, over, balance, gloss meter, Geiger
proofer, computer, calculator, copy machine, mixer,
shaker, K-Coater, slide angle, C.O.F. tester, &
Corona treater. Special
