Clark+Elbing is looking for a talented Technology Specialist with a background in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry to join our Legal Staff. As a Technology Specialist, you will use your scientific knowledge and expertise to draft and assist Partners and Patent Attorneys in the prosecution of patent applications.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in a biological science (biology, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and immunology). Successful candidates will possess excellent analytical and communications skills; they must think, write, and speak clearly.
Responsibilities May Include:
Our Technology Specialists are called upon to apply their scientific knowledge and expertise to:
- Draft and assist in the prosecution of patent applications.
- Develop, write, and edit material for reports, opinion letters, applications, and related technical publications concerned with scientific methods, procedures, and inventions in their scientific field.
- Analyze, review and prepare license agreements, investor due diligence reports, and opinion letters concerning patents and patent applications.
- Prepare and review patent applications by applying high level substantive knowledge of biological science, current research, and scientific methods and analysis.
- Assist Partners and Patent Attorneys with advice to clients concerning patentability of inventions, infringement of patents and validity of patents.
Skill & Ability Requirements:
- Must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a biological science (biology, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and immunology).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to think, write and speak clearly.
- Possess a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven reliability and accountability.
- Able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Clark+Elbing principally builds its professional staff by hiring strong Ph.D. scientists as Technology Specialists, who are trained, encouraged to pass the patent bar, and supported through law school. Clark+Elbing offers flexible working conditions including on-site in Boston, remote and hybrid positions. The salary range for this position is $135,000 to $143,100 and is based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills and billable hours.
