About This Position and Training Program

This postdoctoral position at the University of Michigan Medical School is a 12-month appointment on an NIH-sponsored T32 training program in Basic Diabetes Research (Grant ID # T32DK101357). Trainees will be employees of the University of Michigan, with fringe benefits and childcare subsidies if eligible.

Our training program is now in its 10th year, with 42 grant preceptors working across a spectrum of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Research.

Postdocs will work full-time with their grant mentor on their approved research project. Trainees will also benefit from hands-on laboratory training and online coursework with UM's Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, including the NIH-required Rigor, Reproducibility, and Transparency Training.

Our program objective is to support postdoc trainees in launching their research careers, focusing on publishing and securing independent funding while in training.  Up to $1200 in travel funds per year are available for attending conferences.

Please note that this federally funded award mandates a Payback Agreement for Postdoctoral Trainees. Please see more information on NIH’s Payback Service Awards Payback Agreements here
