 Do you want to benefit from working in an interdisciplinary, dynamic, and highly motivated research group embedded in the excellent and international environment of the University of Vienna?  

Then come join our team as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Manuela Schmidt, University of Vienna, Austria.

Our translational research focuses on the molecular underpinnings of painful pathologies in vertebrates. In particular, we have setup an integrated workflow for the discovery of system-wide proteome dynamics in the context of chronic pain in mice and human patients (please see our webpage

We seek candidates having successfully completed their PhD and combining expertise in biochemistry, neuroscience, and mouse behavior.  Candidates who have strong expertise in mouse disease models, proteomics, or pain research are especially encouraged to apply.

Above all, we seek a skilled and dedicated person, who enjoys science and shares our passion for research!

Your responsibilities include:

  • Plan and execute in vitro and in vivo experiments involving mouse behavior studies
  • Manage and develop research projects independently
  • Manage collaborative projects within our research group and with our collaboration partners (in particular, with clinicians)

Essential skills:

  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences or related fields
  • Motivated team player striving in a highly dynamic work environment
  • Utmost commitment to deadlines
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • English (fluent, written and spoken)
  • Experience with mouse/rat behavior studies
  • Expertise in at least one of the following fields is required:
    • Neuroscience
    • Biochemistry/proteomics
    • Pain research
    • Virus-mediated gene transfer

Our research group is embedded in the Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Vienna.
