AUBURN UNIVERSITY
Assistant Professor
Department of Chemical Engineering, Samuel Ginn College of Engineering
The Auburn University Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions with an anticipated start date of August 2026. Although the areas of expertise are open, priority will be given to candidates in biomedical engineering, biological engineering, or bioprocess engineering with an experimental or computational focus. The candidate selected for these positions will be expected to contribute to the growth of at least one of the department’s strategic focus areas: energy and environment, advanced materials, computer-aided chemical engineering, and pharmaceutical/biomedical engineering. The candidates selected for these positions must demonstrate a strong commitment and potential to excel at both research and teaching in chemical engineering. Additionally, the candidates will have a strong record of scholarly publication, the ability to attract and sustain externally sponsored research funding to support their research program, collaborate with faculty on several interdisciplinary research projects, effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. While our primary focus is hiring at the Assistant Professor level, appointment of associate or full professor rank is possible commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Our department seeks outstanding candidates with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a closely related field. The candidates selected for these positions must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. A Ph.D. (or terminal degree) is required at the time employment begins. Excellent communication skills and a high level of personal motivation are required.
The position is available beginning August 16, 2026. Review of applications will begin November 10, 2025, and continue until a candidate has been identified. The application materials include:
