Job Summary:
Location: Beverly, MA, conveniently located off route 95/128, within a well-established and vibrant NorthShore biotech ecosystem.
About the Role: RAN Biotech is an innovative and growing company developing solutions to address needs in cutting-edge technologies, such as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), drug discovery, single cell encapsulation and manipulation and point-of-use microbe detection. We are seeking a Molecular Biologist to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of biological assays on microfluidic systems for life science applications. This is a hands-on, interdisciplinary position at the intersection of physics, chemistry, biology and engineering, requiring versatility, technical rigor, and a strong collaborative mindset.
Duties:
* Develop and optimize workflows and biological assays (e.g. single cell assays, PCR) compatible with microfluidic platforms
* Contribute to designing and fabricating microfluidic devices for molecular biology assays
* Contribute to product development and provide technical support to customers as needed
* Establish and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
* Maintain accurate, detailed laboratory records and regularly report results in internal meetings
* Uphold best practices for lab safety and professional conduct
Requirements
Required Education and Skills:
- BS/MS/PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Material Science or related field
- 2+ years of experience in developing biological assays. Experience in single cell and PCR assays is preferred
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in microfluidics. Experience in droplet microfluidics is preferred
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask efficiently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in record keeping in laboratory notebooks
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and eager to learn and apply new techniques
