Post Doctoral Position in Hadronic Physics
Physics & Astronomy - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25004804)
The University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in theoretical hadronic physics. This position is tied to the goals of the Department of Energy Topical Collaboration, "Coordinated Theoretical Approach for Exotic Hadron Spectroscopy" (ExoHad). Duties include completing work associated with milestones 2. a and 3.d in the ExoHad plan of action. This involves computing spin-dependent effects in the hybrid spectrum and developing a model of radiative decays of hybrid mesons. Additional work in developing novel AI-based methods for optimizing model selection is also anticipated. The Candidate is expected to attend ExoHad collaboration meetings and to make at least one visit to the theory group at Jefferson Laboratory. You will be expected to work with other scientists on this project, assist with student mentorship, as well as lead-author scientific papers.
The position is funded initially for one year and housed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh, working with Dr. E. Swanson and collaborators. The position may be extended pending funding and performance. Start date is as soon as practicable, preferably by March 1, 2026.
Required: PhD in theoretical nuclear or particle physics. Must have a successful conferral of a PhD by the start of the appointment.
To apply: Please apply within the Talent Center job posting through join.pitt.edu, and email Dr. Swanson at swansone@pitt.edu with email subject "Postdoc Opportunity" and the following combined as 1 PDF attachment: (1) cover letter describing your career goals, experience, and interest in the position, (2) Resume/CV including contact information for three professional references.
