Description

The Avgousti lab is looking for motivated and enthusiastic post-docs interested in developing independent research ideas combining chromatin biology and molecular virology. Candidates should have a record of productive research (at least one first-author publication), with knowledge and experience in biochemistry or molecular biology. The Avgousti lab is focused on the mechanisms by which viruses hijack chromatin. Due to the major advancement in sequencing technologies and the expansion of the field of epigenetics, exploiting viruses to investigate chromatin biology has enormous potential. Our goal is to advance basic understanding of viral manipulation of chromatin and uncover new aspects of chromatin biology and virus infection to identify new therapeutic targets and develop innovative strategies to combat disease. These positions present exceptional opportunities to develop research programs in the overarching field of epigenetics or virology, allowing successful candidates a clear pathway to independence.
