The Senior Analytical Chemist is a core member of our Product Development team and plays a pivotal role in driving analytical innovation that powers True Terpenes’ cutting-edge research in cannabinoid, terpene, and formulation chemistry. In this role, you will develop, validate, and implement advanced analytical methods that deliver precise, data-driven insights to R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
Beyond compliance testing, you will help transform complex analytical data into actionable product and process improvements—accelerating product development cycles, ensuring exceptional product quality, and strengthening True Terpenes’ position as an industry leader in applied cannabis science.
We are on a fast-growth trajectory. This position is onsite at our state-of-the-art showcase facility in Hillsboro, Oregon, offered with a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity. The salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. The actual base salary will depend on experience, knowledge and skills. What You Will Bring
Technical & Analytical Expertise
- Proficiency in developing and validating analytical methods using chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC-FID, ICP-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.).
- Experience designing and executing method development, validation, and transfer studies.
- Strong familiarity with ICH, USP, ISO 17025, and/or cGxP guidelines.
- Ability to generate analytical insights supporting R&D, formulations, impurity profiling, and stability studies.
- Skilled in analytical software (ChemStation, MassHunter, Empower, etc.) with strong statistical interpretation.
Scientific & Cross-Functional Impact
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience performing root-cause investigations and resolving OOS/OOT events.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration with Formulations, Quality, Regulatory, Production, and Manufacturing.
- Ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation while ensuring data integrity.
- Experience authoring SOPs and documentation aligned with ISO 17025 or GMP.
Innovation & Leadership Mindset
- Curiosity-driven approach with a passion for advancing analytical capabilities in cannabis chemistry.
- Ability to stay current with emerging technologies, literature, and evolving regulations.
- Experience mentoring laboratory personnel in advanced techniques and GMP documentation.
- Proven success in dynamic R&D environments with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in GMP-regulated or ISO-accredited labs.
- Hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation (2D-GC, GC×GC, NMR, DLS, viscometry, ICP-MS).
- Experience developing or transferring methods for botanical matrices or novel formulations.
- MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or related field with 5+ years of laboratory experience.

Required Education and Experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in method development and validation using chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC-FID, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.).
- Strong familiarity with ICH, USP, ISO 17025, or cGxP guidelines.
- Experience in analytical research supporting R&D or formulation development within pharmaceuticals, natural products, or cannabis.
- Expertise in data analysis software (ChemStation, MassHunter, Empower, or equivalent) and statistical data interpretation.
- Proven ability to communicate complex analytical results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience within GMP-regulated or ISO-accredited laboratories.
- Hands-on experience with advanced instrumentation such as 2D-GC, GC×GC, NMR, DLS, viscometry, or ICP-MS.
- Prior leadership in cross-functional project teams or mentorship of laboratory personnel.
- Experience developing or transferring analytical methods for botanical matrices or novel formulations.
- MS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or related field with 5+ years of analytical laboratory experience.
