Position Overview:
The Project Engineer supports Project Managers by coordinating project activities, maintaining effective communication, managing schedules and documentation, and helping track costs and progress. This role works closely with field teams, engineers, detailers, and leadership to ensure projects are completed successfully, safely, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with bidding and procurement of new projects.
- Estimate and negotiate changes to project scope or costs.
- Monitor and report labor hours and material expenses.
- Coordinate the purchase of major equipment and subcontracted services.
- Track and expedite deliveries of key materials and equipment.
- Understand and apply project contract terms, scope, and specifications.
- Maintain organized and compliant project documentation.
- Collaborate with field supervisors to plan and schedule project activities.
- Review contract and detail drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare fabrication work packages, including drawing reviews, material lists, and labor budgets.
- Support and promote jobsite safety in alignment with company safety standards.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance, which is essential to the role.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients.
- Continue developing knowledge of mechanical systems, including engineering, estimating, construction practices, and financial management.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to accurately estimate mechanical work.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
- Clear understanding of mechanical concepts and ability to communicate them effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- High attention to detail to prevent costly errors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in construction management, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred.
Required Licensing and Other Certifications:
- Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
