Pixion Batteries, Inc., seeks Technical Director of Research & Development (Austin, TX) Duties: Oversee projects that advance lithium and sodium battery electrode development. Play a pivotal role in electrode manufacturing, characterization and prototyping of different structure and chemical composition electrodes, and validating the feasibility of scaling up the electrode production. Investigate appropriate ceramic and polymer powder processing techniques used by other industries and develop different processing lines for different starting materials. Coordinate with technical and executive team members to ensure the scale up manufacturing process operates smoothly. Responsible for the end-to-end process, including actively engaging in the material processes for electrode manufacturing. Develop plans and prototypes for electrode characterization and testing. Lead the engineering team in integrating prototypes into the electrode manufacturing process. Establish a product testing protocol with universities and other research laboratories. Develop new testing instruments to improve and speed up the product evaluation processes, as necessary. Maintain proper documentation of the product and process for safety and operations and work with other team members to establish necessary intellectual properties. Establish a standard operating procedure (SOP) and training protocols for the electrode manufacturing and characterization processes. Develop a roadmap to translate R&D products and designs to final product/process manufacturing. Identify and lead engagement with suppliers for engineering processes and materials. Work to establish a supply chain and build strategic relationships.
