The North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) invites applications for a Diagnostic Veterinary Toxicologist. This is a non-tenure track position in a fully accredited diagnostic laboratory and NAHLN member. Toxicology board certification or eligibility and a DVM degree or PhD in related field is required. Preference will be given to board-certified (DABVT or DABT) individuals, those with a PhD in analytical chemistry and candidates with experience in toxicology. Candidates who have finished residency and are studying for boards are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Responsibilities include serving as Section Head of toxicology, overseeing the daily operation in the toxicology lab and supervising toxicology lab chemists.  The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to diagnostic service and will accurately interpret and communicate toxicology and ancillary test results to clientele, participate in the laboratory’s quality system, and perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory director. Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical to the position. Opportunities for collaborative research and teaching exist. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
DVM degree or PhD in a related field 
Post-graduate training or experience in toxicology 
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
DVM or PhD in analytical chemistry
Experience in veterinary practice and veterinary diagnostics
DABVT or DABT certification, eligibility or partial completion of boards
Graduate of AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine or equivalence certification
Personnel management experience
Experience with liquid and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and ICP-mass spectrometry 
Experience with quality assurance system
Interest in training residents
