Summary, Focus and Purpose
Our 3D Technologies enterprise team operates as a business partner for raised challenges and problems to propose ideas and innovative solutions that enable new organizational capabilities. Our mission statement is to democratize inventing and make it easy and accessible to anyone at our company. Our core DevOps team collaborates internationally across the globe to deliver solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation, through CAD, 3D printing, and other services.
The 3DT Materials & Process supports our pipeline projects for Quality & Compliance (QC), usually when there are cGMP factors. The propensity for defects is different with 3D printing vs. other manufacturing techniques, and the challenge in understanding, reducing or eliminating, or designing around, is largely burdened onto the end user. The QC team aims to learn and up-knowledge our main DevOps team in these constraints and enhance the portfolio of fabrication techniques to support the pharmaceutical business while maintaining GMP compliance.
In this role, the co-op will be primarily focused on QC support, through efforts such as:
A) Building 3D printers
Build prosumer grade 3D printers to expand our fleet, such as a Voron or Ratrig
Qualify new printers into service and help outline processing conditions to ensure equipment meets minimum quality controls (primarily FDM and Resin Vat)
B) Repair, upgrade or up-knowledge existing printers
Identify root cause of print failures across a fleet through systematic analysis
Perform upgrades or process improvement to improve speed, reliability and versatility
Identify and document equipment failures and part defects to improve or expand our Quality Control checks and Go-NoGo inspections and to help train new automated systems
C) Continuous improvements and R&D
Identify workflows in lab Dev & Ops and 3D printing production for improvement opportunities
Execute on research to expand our capabilities, such as 3DP for injection molding, 3DP of tablets/pills, or wetted path components for bioprocessing
D) Side gig opportunities
Participate hands-on post-processing techniques to learn practical tips and tricks for assembly, as well as ensuring high quality parts to go into a pharmaceutical cleanroom
Manning a table at outreach events as they present themselves, such as Take Your Child to Work Day
Exposure to and collaboration with different departments and multiple parts of a pharmaceutical processes
This role will be a primarily onsite, with an expectation for onsite attendance of 4-5 days per week.
