Job Description:
- Plan, conduct, and manage molecular biology and immunology research projects in compliance with federal, institutional, and clinical trial regulatory requirements, under the direction of a Principal Investigator. This includes conducting performance and analysis of high-parameter flow cytometry, aseptic technique, blood and sample processing, and data interpretation.
- Perform routine and non-routine laboratory assays, including but not limited to T-cell culture and phenotyping, flow cytometry, viral specificity testing, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, PCR analysis, protein purification, and DNA purification. This includes performing advanced molecular biology and immunology laboratory research, including T-cell culture, flow cytometry, and data analysis.
- Independently develop and optimize experimental protocols; modify research methods in collaboration with the Principal Investigator; and troubleshoot new laboratory techniques and technologies, utilizing knowledge of T-cell biology, molecular biology techniques, and immunological assays.
- Develop novel assays to predict engraftment in bone marrow transplant patients.
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and validate experimental and clinical trial data using specialized analytical platforms and software, including flow cytometry analysis tools and statistical databases.
- Conduct immune monitoring and immune reconstitution studies using patient samples from ongoing clinical trials, including advanced assays such as single-cell RNA sequencing, T-cell receptor sequencing, and cytotoxicity assays.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, databases, and research records; compile coded datasets and statistical summaries requiring interpretation of data from multiple scientific alternatives.
- Coordinate multiple concurrent research studies, including scheduling experiments, tracking project milestones, monitoring deadlines, and assisting with staffing and resource planning.
- Oversee laboratory materials and supplies, monitor cost effectiveness, and ensure proper use of research funds and institutional resources.
- Train and mentor research assistants, students, and junior laboratory staff; assist in assigning work priorities and schedules as needed.
- Prepare and present research findings at laboratory meetings, institutional forums, and national scientific conferences; assist with manuscript preparation and data reporting as required.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biochemistry, Immunology, or a closely related field, plus 3 years of experience in a molecular biology or immunology occupation. The required experience must include the following:
- 3 years of experience with molecular biology techniques and immunological assays.
- 3 years of experience with aseptic technique and data interpretation.
- 2 years of experience performing sample processing.
- Demonstrated knowledge* of the development of novel assays.
- Demonstrated knowledge* of immunology laboratory research, including flow cytometry and data analysis.
*Knowledge may be demonstrated through education, training, and/or experience.
