Description
The Department of Green Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Innovation & Technology (CIT) at the University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for tenure-track positions at the assistant professor rank. The Department seeks applicants who will expand research programs and curriculum offerings in our Biochemistry and Green Chemistry programs. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Green Chemistry, or relevant field by the appointment date. Candidates must show exceptional promise in both teaching and research and are expected to have an appreciation of, and commitment to, the value of diversity and working with a diverse faculty and student body. Candidates must articulate and demonstrate teaching excellence.
Successful candidates will teach and mentor students, develop externally funded research program(s), and publish in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Candidates are expected to possess the knowledge, drive, and innovative spirit that will continue CIT on a trajectory to be a nationally recognized destination for excellence in student experience and high-impact research. CIT continues to develop strong ties with regional industries leading to applied research and experiential learning opportunities. Therefore, the candidates will be encouraged to collaborate with others to create new programs and certificates within the College, to prepare students for the workforce of the future. Startup packages for the successful candidates include generous funding, lab space, access to equipment across CIT, and reassignment of teaching.
Requirements
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Green Chemistry, or a closely-related field by the appointment date.
Candidates must show exceptional promise in both research and teaching and are expected to have an appreciation of and commitment to working with faculty and student body.
Candidates must have:
- A record of teaching excellence, including the potential to teach in face-to-face, online, and experiential learning settings.
- A record of research and scholarly publications, including the potential for an externally-funded research program
- The ability to further the goals of the department, college, and university through the design and implementation of courses and/or programs
- The ability to generate and mentor undergraduate student research project
