Description
The Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for four tenure-track faculty positions across three research areas, with anticipated start dates in Fall 2027.
AI and Machine Learning in Chemical Engineering (1 Position)
Assistant Professor
The principal focus for this position is at the intersection of computational data science and Chemical Engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to advance process systems design, process safety and risk analysis, optimization, characterization, and predictive modeling of materials.
Metabolic Engineering and Bioprocess Engineering (2 Positions)
Assistant Professor
The principal focus for this position is in the area of metabolic engineering and bioprocess engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research integrates the design, optimization, and scale-up of microbial and cell-based systems to enable sustainable production of biomaterials, platform chemicals as feedstocks for fuels and chemicals manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals including emerging modalities such as engineered proteins, nucleic acid-based therapeutics, and cell-free expression systems, and other high-value products.
Process Systems Engineering (1 Position)
Assistant Professor
The principal focus of this position is in Process Systems Engineering. We seek candidates with strong expertise in one or more areas of computational and algorithmic methods; scientific artificial intelligence and machine learning; multiscale modeling and simulation; large-scale optimization; and hybrid, physics, and/or data-driven approaches for the design, operation, control, and decision-making under uncertainty in processing systems. Research applications may include sustainable chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and fuels, resilient energy systems, advanced manufacturing, the circular economy, and other emerging challenges in chemical and process systems engineering.
Qualifications and Application Information
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field appropriate to the position. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, and service.
