The Yanagimachi Institute for Biogenesis Research (YIBR) affiliated with the Department of Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology (ABP) at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) at the University of Hawaii is searching for a scholarly individual with a strong commitment to research and teaching and who will be role model and mentor for learners and colleagues. A suitable candidate will be hired into a full-time tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. This position reports to the Director of the YIBR and Department Chair of ABP. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The YIBR is home to world class research in reproductive and developmental biology and associated fields. Situated within the ABP department and JABSOM, the YIBR research activities are enriched by a highly collaborative university environment at two locations, the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) campus and the JABSOM and Cancer Center campus at Kaka’ako. Appointee will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities at both campuses. New faculty will be incorporated into a multidisciplinary team that includes several researchers pursuing research in reproductive and developmental biology. Appointee will work with outstanding faculty colleagues, post-docs, and graduate students from a variety of programs at JABSOM and UHM. Scholarly activities will occur within laboratory space located at the YIBR on the UHM campus.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or its equivalent. We welcome applicants who have prior experience and current research focus on reproductive biology. Primary topics of interest are: male and female fertility, testis and ovary, spermatogenesis and oogenesis, fertilization and early embryonic/fetal development. Secondary topics include other aspects of reproduction and development and cutting-edge molecular, biochemical, genomics/epigenomics methods applied in reproductive biology field. The candidate will be responsible for making substantial contributions to the growth of YIBR research, including funding, and should have history of making peer recognized contributions to reproductive biology research, in their area of study. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching mission and service of YIBR and ABP.
