Job Summary and Scope:
We're looking for a bioanalytical scientist to support our Development Bioanalysis team at Genentech. This is a contract/contingent worker opportunity through an external staffing partner, with a primary focus on technical bioanalysis, including assay development and troubleshooting, non-GLP sample analysis, and scientific oversight of external bioanalytical activities. We're particularly interested in candidates with strong hands-on bioanalytical chemistry experience.
Under the guidance of a Bioanalytical Scientist, the Bioanalytical Chemist Contractor will provide scientific and technical support for developmental bioanalytical activities. The position performs internal bioanalytical support for projects as well as oversees some external bioanalytical activities for the quantitative analysis of chemical entities or/and their metabolites in biological matrices across preclinical and clinical development stages.
In addition to its scientific responsibilities, the position contributes to bioanalytical project coordination and operational activities supporting Development Bioanalysis in collaboration with partner departments and CRO across late-stage discovery, preclinical development, and clinical development.
Key responsibilities:
Non-GLP Sample Analysis: Support the development bioanalytical (Dev BA) group for performing in-house analysis of samples from non-GLP studies.
Conduct in-house troubleshooting for complex assays when needed.
Oversee regulated bioanalytical activities conducted at CRO, ensuring good compliance with GLP/GCP regulations.
Provide technical oversight during bioanalytical method development, method validation, and sample analysis across preclinical and clinical studies.
Review method reports, study reports, and relevant experimental documentations.
Participate in scientific evaluations for CRO operation, review SOP documents, and establish customized bioanalytical requirements.
Participate in bioanalytical research and evaluate emerging analytical technologies to advance internal platform capabilities.
Maintain study information, timelines, and status updates in collaborative tracking tools.
Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, collaboration, and constant improvement.
Provide additional operational support based on team needs.
Requirements
Candidate Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
Strong hands-on experience and practical knowledge of quantitative bioanalysis.
Prior experiences of developing, validating, and troubleshooting bioanalytical assays is highly desirable.
Good communication skills and organizational abilities.
Agile mindset capable of adapting quick shifts of internal and external priorities.
