Description
The Department of Radiology at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia, has two openings for board eligible or board certified neuroradiologists.
Chief Purpose of the Position:
To provide daytime, remote teleradiology, subspecialized all neuroradiology interpretation of CT, CTA, CT Perfusion, MR, perfusion imaging in support of a high-volume academic health system. This position is primarily clinical and is structured around a 7 days on / 7 days off daytime schedule, offering predictable coverage with no overnight shifts. Remote work arrangements are available from Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, and Talbot County, Maryland.
The teleradiologist will deliver expert diagnostic interpretations of neuroimaging studies involving the brain, face, head, neck, peripheral nerves, and spine using a fully digitized, state-of-the-art PACS and voice recognition environment. The role emphasizes efficiency, accuracy, and high-quality communication with referring providers during daytime hours, supporting patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Clinical (Primary Responsibility)
Provide high-quality, subspecialized neuroradiology interpretations during daytime shifts on a 7-days-on / 7-days-off schedule
Interpret CT, CTA, CT perfusion, MR, perfusion imaging, and MR spectroscopy studies in a fully remote environment
Support daytime imaging needs for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department services
24-hour IT support
Communicate critical and actionable findings promptly and directly to referring providers
Utilize a seamless system for closed loop communication for critical results.
Participate in real-time virtual consultations and multidisciplinary discussions as clinically appropriate
Meet established turnaround time, quality, documentation standards and productivity standards
2. Teaching (Optional and Limited)
Optional participation in limited remote teaching activities, such as virtual readouts or case discussions, as scheduling permits
3. Research and Service (Minimal)
Optional involvement in clinically relevant quality improvement or imaging-based initiatives
Minimal non-clinical obligations, with participation primarily limited to virtual clinical activities
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
ABR certified or successful completion of the ABR Core Examination
Fellowship training in Neuroradiology
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration in a virtual clinical environment
Current license to practice medicine in Virginia or the ability to qualify for licensure as well as an out-of-state license where the candidate will practice.
Eligibility for permanent employment in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing daytime neuroradiology coverage in a high-volume tertiary care setting
Demonstrated experience in remote daytime neuroradiology practice
Expertise in supporting acute neuroimaging, including stroke and trauma, and outpatient neuroradiology during daytime workflows
Interest in clinical consultation with referring providers within a teleradiology model
