- Production Manager - Chemical Plant
Description
Responsible for Chemical Plant operations leadership and supervision, including the Wastewater Treatment process. Ensure compliance with the environmental regulations and the safety rules for each process activity. Manage the Industrial Risks which are part of this process. Ensure the timely delivery of quality products, consistent with Safety, Engineering and Quality documentation. Use Saft Excellence tools to improve manufacturing variances. Develop the autonomous teams' sense of ownership. Be responsible for all operational Chemical Plant activities, reporting and communication for all shifts. Lead the Chemical Plant PMR2 team.
MISSION
Provide- leadership to all Chemical Plant employees on all shifts.Promote involvement in the autonomous team to highlight production and quality issues. Monitor the teams' hourly production and make changes to meet or exceed the targets.
Develop- Be a mentor to develop Supervisors and Team Leads reporting directly to you. Ensure required training and annual refreshers. Develop the use of Saft Excellence tools and promote autonomous teams.
Implement- production plan and flex labor to meet on time delivery goals and efficiency targets. Improve process flow by using Saft Excellence tools. Reduce factory costs, including consumables and maintenance.
Lead- the autonomous teams to focus on tangible results that reduce scrap, labor costs, and material variance. Use problem solving and other Saft Excellence tools in PMR1&2 to resolve issues.
Sustain- Promote Safety and achieve a Safety culture among the Chemical Plant team. Review Industrial Risks and ensure all employees are knowledgeable of their areas. Ensure 5S standards are clear and followed daily.
Responsible- to meet variance targets. Keep spending within the budget. Implement cost reductions. Give inputs to develop budget and control spending to meet the budget.
Meet- all regulatory and compliance requirements for safety, health, and environmental. Keep current with all safety and environmental training.
Supervise- all operators and Team Lead on shift and the supervisors of all Chemical Plant shifts. Develop a schedule to flex operators through workstations. As needed, use discipline per existing CBA. Maintain record of employees hours in payroll system. Answer customer complaints.
Occurrence and KPI
Provide- Daily production, scrap and efficiency targets. Team activity with PMR issues raised and resolved.
Develop- Monthly audits, meet month safety observations targets, APR process for feedback and development
Implement- Efficiency report and OTD results. Improved output
Lead- Scrap and material variance report; PMR2 KPI results
Sustain- Audit the process and resolve audit findings. Achieve goals for problem solving and closure of open actions related to Safety and Quality.
Responsible- Documented cost reductions to decrease the labor or process costs. Reduce the lead-time of finished products to our customers. Monthly financial reports.
Meet- Achieve safety and environmental goals. Results from internal and external audits. Answer audit findings. Refresh training for Hazwoper, first aid, etc. Cadmium exposure limits are not exceeded.
Supervise- Rotation schedule for operators and FWAP operators able to perform all tasks. Maintain employee working hour records. Handle grievances. Reply to customer complaints.
Requirements
Academic background: College diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related technical field. Alternatively, have significant work experience in a chemcial process, including formal leadership training
Experience / requirements: 5 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a chemial manufacturing setting
Specific knowledge: Chemical processes such as mixing, disolution reactions, and wasterwater treatment. ISO 9100, Hazwoper, Safety and environmental regulations, leading autonomous teams, lean manufacturing, LSS Green Belt topics
Business understanding: Strong leadership skills, team building skills, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills. Microsoft Office Suite
