Description
The Patti Lab in the Department of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Staff Scientist. Our group develops and applies novel mass spectrometry-based methods for multi-omics research.
Duties include:
-Design analytical research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification, and management of data. Troubleshoot and maintain mass spectrometry instrumentation, including troubleshooting with equipment, instrumentation, and protocols. Suggest technical or procedural improvements in research methods. Conduct literature searches related to research project.
-Maintain complete and organized records of data, experimental protocols, and the results of analyses, including maintaining EHS Blue Book, and training on lab specific safety protocols, etc.
-Prepare final summaries of data and publication-quality graphs, tables, and charts. Participate in writing manuscripts for publication and grant proposals for research support.
-Aid in mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students, and postdocs.
Requirements
PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry or a related field.
Research expertise in one or more of the following areas is required for this position:
1. Familiarity with Thermo, Agilent, or Bruker LC-MS systems.
2. Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry-based methods.
3. Mass spec sample preparation experience.
4. Analysis of metabolomics, lipidomics, and/or exposomics data sets.
